The AutoSeal senses the height of the plate automatically to provide uniform sealing of all microplates. The AutoSeal is designed to automatically seal any microplate regardless of the height of the plate.
The purpose of sealing a microplate is to provide access to the contents of the well at a later time. The AutoSeal accomplishes this with a peelable heat seal. A small tab is left for convenience in unsealing. The use of heat sealing provides a continuous bond around the perimeter of each well, with no risk of contamination to the well contents.
The positive seal, when removed, leaves no residue to impede further plate handling or processing. Any plate may be sealed, peeled, and resealed a number of times. The convenience of peeling and the low cost of the AutoSeal sealing material, is unmatched by any other means of access for critical sealing applications.

The AutoSeal is fully programmable and can accommodate microplates of any height - from a thin PCR plate to deepwell plates. Precise temperature control is provided with proportional, integral and derivative functions to maintain the exact amount of bonding-peelability for each microplate type and user function. A convenient, small diameter roll of desired seals is placed in the AutoSeal. The sealing cycle will accommodate 25 plates in 10 minutes. A single roll of seals will provide over 11 hours of continuous, unattended operation, with no skeleton or cutoff waste. The AutoSeal is equipped with Tomtec's standard 25 plate stacker cassette, expandable to 50 plates, for longer, uninterrupted plate runs.
