Tomtec has designed a vacuum box Quadra96 Accessory for use with MultiScreen® filter plates, produced by Millipore. The cross rods provide the necessary support to the MultiScreen filter plate. A deepwell capture plate can be placed within the vacuum box in close proximity, so there is no cross contamination between captured samples. If the effluent is to be discarded, it may be aspirated directly to the vacuum trap.
The vacuum box is designed to fit on and move with the shuttle of all Quadra Workstations. Registration between the Quadra tips and plate wells is assured, permitting addition of reagents to the filter plate. A guage indicates vacuum, which is adjusted by a manual flow valve and an air bleed. This permits setting the proper vacuum level for the filter plate in use. An Autotrap (Cat. No. 96-17) is available for collecting and retaining the effluent. It also implements turning vacuum on and off, via a foot switch.
