Quadra 3®
A Fully Integrated Multi-well Pipetting Workstation

The compact design is unique to the Quadra 3®. In 30 inches of benchtop space, a program controlled 6-station shuttle serves both the pipetting head and the stackers. The six stations carry the elements required for the protocol (i.e. reservoirs, and a wide variety of accessories). Using Tomtec's pipeline pipetting techniques, the incoming plate is completely processed and returned to the outfeed stackers. For HTS type assays, the source plate infeeds on one side and the destination plate on the other. For sample preparation protocols, the various plates, required by the protocol, can be stacked in order. The complete sequence is executed flawlessly while remaining unattended.
Pipetting Flexibility

Tomtec's 96 well, 450µL Pipetting Head has a precision of 2% at a volume of 10µL.The 20µL Pipetting Head can deliver volumes below 1µL at a precision of < 5%. Tomtec also provides a positive displacement design in both 96 and 384 well formats. These Pipetting Heads incorporate stainless needles that are Teflon® coated inside and outside. Circulated ultrasonic tip washing is used to clean the needles. These Pipetting Heads provide precision of 2-3% at 0.5µL.
Operational Flexibility

Operational flexibility is the basis of the design. A full indexing stage can change plate formats (i.e. 96 to 384 to 1536) or do serial dilution studies in the 8 or 12 direction. The stackers can handle lidded plates, for cell culture and similar operations. Each user created program, via Windows®, or the self-contained text users interface, has a checksum identifier. It verifies the recalled program is an exact copy of the validated original. The error rate is less than 1 in 4 trillion.
Enhance with Accessories

A complete line of accessories are available to complete the system design. An automated Vacuum Box completes the filtration protocols. A Live Bottom Reservoir System keeps particulate matter in suspension for pipetting. A Magnetic Nest traps and holds beads for washing. A Shaker Nest provides agitation. An Auxiliary Station can provide in process heating or cooling.
