Tomtec has created a specialized vacuum box for solid phase extraction (SPE). It is designed to handle most of the commercially available 96-well format extraction plates (i.e. 3M Empore, Water Oasis, Varian Microelute II, etc.). A three part construction accommodates the difference in size between these various options. A capture plate, up to 2ml, may be placed within the vacuum chamber to catch the eluent. A convenient glass window allows observation of the flow rate. The vacuum box fits on, and moves with, the shuttle on most Quadra workstations. This maintains precise alignment with the dispensing tips allowing reagents to be automatically transferred from various reservoirs or sample plates, according to the program created by the operator.

The unique vacuum control module contains a vacuum regulator, gauge and 3-way switch. The switch sets conditions for each SPE step, thereby assuring compliance with GMP protocols. An Autotrap (Cat. No. 96-14) is available for collecting and retaining the effluent.
