Tomtec offers a temperature controlled reservoir nest for the Quadra 3 and Quadra-Plus(tm). It is a Peltier device that can both heat (60°C) and cool (4°C). A switch reverses the Peltier polarity. A PID temperature controller senses the temperature of the top of the nest via a thermistor, and controls it to the set point.
The controller provides Proportional, Intergral, and Derivitive (PID) control. To obtain heat transfer to the reagents, they are contained in a Teflon coated aluminum reservoir (not shown), that is thermally conductive. One point of note; if the reservoir is cooled below the dew point in the room, there may be condenstation on its exterior surface. A small amount of insulation will easily solve that situation, if it occurs.
